The Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first championship series since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now slugged 23 playoff homers, ranking him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment except for Springer with his October magic," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" after his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
