Football Expert Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global break, but will the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several charity football games over time - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

However I am not do that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
